..am interested that your mom's fudge got to you intact; it has been taking 3-4 weeks for stuff to reach Caitlin by mail from here. I sent 400 grams of mini-candy canes, 3 magazines and some tampons and it cost me over $44.....

Yup, I really did throw the article away. It was pretty good, too. Not the writing style, maybe, but the stories.
As for the fudge: My Mom lives far away from Montreal, right next to the United States. She mailed from the States for $10 or $15 (I forget exactly how much) and it took only 2 weeks. She packaged it nicely, in a box and tupperware. So if you know anybody who's heading to the States sometime, it's a great way to send things to Tanzania.

well, well: taken for a ride (again) by Canada post. althought to be slightly fair, I suspect that things reach Dar with a certain despatch, but they probably collect all the Zan-bound mail and send it off on a slooooow boat every so often (when they feel like it ?).
